Whether you’re a doctor’s office or a restaurant, it’s important to display health and safety signage right now outlining the guidelines and rules your establishment is following and implementing. There’s also a large chance that the way your business is operating during the COVID-19 pandemic has changed, from limited hours of operation and occupancy, to how you would like customers and patients to enter an establishment, pick up a to-go order, or check in for an appointment. As the current situation continues to evolve, it’s important to make sure that you have the signage you need to convey important messages to your employees, customers, and patients.
Signage upon Entering
There’s a lot of important information that businesses and health offices need to communicate to customers and patients before they even step inside. Some restaurants are only offering curb-side pick-up, others are requesting customers to order ahead online or by calling. The same goes for doctor’s offices as some are requesting patients to call before entering the office for their appointment. Has your doctor’s office or business changed your check-in or order placement process? These are important changes that customers and patients need to be aware of.
Other things to keep in mind during this period are state mandates and requests. Many establishments are requesting their customers and patients to wear a face mask upon entering to protect staff, employees, and other customers. If your business is abiding by these mandates or suggestions, make sure your customers are aware before they enter.
Beyond directing the public in how to interact with your business’s team and asking them to take extra precautions during Covid-19, there still is more information you need to communicate with them as they enter. Have you changed your hours of operation due to the current pandemic? If so, make sure your customers know. You’ll also want to let them know if there is limited occupancy. Are you only allowing so many people in at once due to the current health pandemic? Make sure you have all of the information posted in an easy to find and read location.
COVID-19 Signage Throughout the Establishment
If your office or business is allowing the public inside, it’s also important to not only close off certain seating areas, but to make customers and patients aware that they should practice social distancing. Signs should be easily visible throughout the facility and ideally consist of visuals and words for easier understanding.
There should also be clear signage indicating where restrooms are located for frequent handwashing. If your business has hand sanitizer available for public use, it is also helpful to let people know where they can find it. Make sure your customers and patients are in the loop with appropriate signage to help them find the sanitization they’re looking for.
Important Signage for Employees
It’s just as important to communicate effective messages to your employees. While you may hold team meetings or circulate important information via text or email, it’s also important to post relevant information in break rooms or ‘employee only’ areas as well. Chances are you already have signs in the restroom indicating ‘employees must wash hands before returning to work,’ but if not, it’s important now more than ever to get those signs in place. Reminding employees to wash their hands isn’t the only health measure you want posted. You may also want to post signs reminding them the importance of wearing a face mask as well as social distancing in break rooms and stock rooms.
